A Healthy Summer is Coming

Restore health by creating acid – alkaline balance in the diet

The body is naturally alkaline and meant to maintain a balance between the acidic and the alkaline. It is important
what we eat. Our physical bodies depend on nutrients. The body always attempts to find a balance naturally. Diet is a
source of the acid and alkaline substances that determine balance or imbalance of the body. The more acid we
have, the harder it is to drain waste products. The amount of alkalizing food should be bigger proportionally than the
amount of acidifying food at any meal. The more alkaline we have the better for our optimal health.

Summertime, when everything is in bloom and new growing season has started, has more alkaline foods. Clean out all
mucus, burn fat, fast, and reset stability in the spring. Rejuvenate the body by increasing or decreasing certain foods.
Create a situation where you are able to clean up your diet for 30 days by including alkaline foods at every meal,
whether as salads, juices, or soups.

Alkalizing foods consist primarily of green and colored vegetables (raw or cooked), celery stalks, green beans, cucumber,
sweet peppers, fennel, avocado, potatoes, carrots, beets, corn milk, almond milk, soy milk, soy, egg yolk, bananas,
butter, almonds, Brazil nuts, sea salt, green herbs (basil, parsley), black olives preserved in oil, cold-pressed oils,
apple cider, watermelon, pure water, mint tea, linden tea, dried fruits (dates, raisins), etc.

Almonds and Brazil nuts can be eaten raw or chopped and mixed with salads, vegetables, and deserts. Vegetables such
as broccoli, Brussels sprouts, radishes, onions, peppers, and all greens can restore minerals in the body especially for
people who are suffering from acidification. Acidification is especially present in people who eat too much meat or acidic foods.
Except for tomatoes and eggplants all vegetables are alkalizing and should make up a significant portion of the diet. Tomatoes
are very acidifying whether eaten raw or cooked.

Of all the fruits, the banana is the only one that is truly alkalizing; most are acidic. Acid foods consist of meat, fish, dairy products,
refined carbs and fats, yogurt, kefir, red and black currants, raspberries, strawberries, citrus fruits, cantaloupe, honeydew, tomato, watercress,
sauerkraut, honey, vinegar, sweets, cookies, coffee, tea, chocolate, etc. Cooking fruits doesn’t diminish their acidity.

Summer is a great time to make healthy lifestyle changes. Alkaline foods cleanse and nourish the body. Idealy, a cleanse lasts
for 30 days, but even 7 days will bring desirable benefits. A prescription for springtime health is achieving acid-alkaline balance by
eating more nutritiously and satisfyingly. Drink lemon and water or freshly squeezed carrot and apple juice (alkalizing drinks) first
thing in the morning. Get sufficient exercise. It will help improve and transform wellbeing with grace and ease.

Alkaline broth

2 potatoes unpeeled, scrubbed and chopped
2 carrots unpeeled and chopped
1 cup celery chopped
1 cup parsnips unpeeled and chopped
1/2 cup red onions chopped
1/2 cup parsley
4 quarts of water

Heat water to a simmer in a large cooking pot. Add all prepared vegetables, cover and simmer slowly for 2 hours. Strain the broth through
a strainer to remove the vegetables. Discard vegetables, all of the nutrients have been removed through the slow cooking process.
Alkaline broth is full of nutrients, serve warm or cold as desired. Store in refrigerator for 2-3 days.
Cleanse, rejuvenate, refresh, and energize.
