A Dumbo Walk

I had an amazing weekend. The weather was hot and sunny. My friend invited me for a Dumbo walk on Saturday morning. It was a two hour walk on coble stone streets according to his walking guide book which he borrowed from the library. During that time we stopped at Jacques Torres chocolate shop. The shop looked neat, warm and inviting. All the boxes of chocolate were orange. I like orange, it is a color of health and vitality. We picked a cozy table by the window, we were sat, savored port wine and lemon dark chocolate squares with espresso. These tiny treats tasted divine. It was a lovely way to have breakfast. A few people were there and we could enjoy ambiance of the store to ourselves. We walked out of Jacques Torres’ store with a smile on our faces. It felt exquisite.

The next stop was at a small green park which took us to the East River with a magnificent view of Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridge. The view was breathtaking and my favorite. I was standing there facing the view in amazement even though I saw it many, many times before. There was something so magical about the view. We are so lucky to be able to enjoy the beauty and uniqueness of Manhattan. It was tempting for me to have my photos taken there to cherish that moment. I want to live  longer in moments like these.

After filling our moods with the sun, beauty, positive emotions and staying in good spirits, we had delicious lunch outdoors. While we were eating we had an uplifting talk, sharing  what we like most about our very much pleasant walk. We heard nice music on the background, a man was playing the guitar, This was New York  City, it always knew how to surprise us.

On such a good note my friend suddenly asked me if wanted to visit some other places in Manhattan and Brooklyn to learn more about the city. It sounded like a great plan, my answer was of course. We decided to make the time for one walk per month. I collect happy places and happy thoughts in my mind that I can go there any time I want.

Isn’t it wonderful to have a friend who surprises and takes you happy places to remember. I wish I had many weekends like this-relaxing and uplifting. When I have such a satisfactory experience  I crave more of it. I look forward to our next walking adventure. Our next stop will take us to…    To be continued…
